Guidelines

The audition guideline provides a basic oversight on what kind of talent we prefered. Ultimately, it is the composition of the audition pool that determinates the balance and direction that we want to lead this batch of talent to.

Required

Speak Fluent English

Since most of our content are created in English, you must speak fluent English. English doesn't have to be your first language, but you must be able to stream comfortably in English.

Legal Age

You must be at least the legal adult age defined by your country (mostly 18 years old) before the audition ends.

Commitment to Streaming

You must be sure that you are at least willing to commit to stream at least one year. We recommend that you know that you will have occasion spare time to stream. Our recommendation for stream frequency is 3 times a week, or at least 20 hours per month.

Strongly Preferred

Creative, Humorous and Other Traits

We are interested in people with the following personality traits: Creative, Easy Going, Humorous, and Knowledgable in many ares. So show us your creativity in our application form! Don't be too serious, have fun with it!

Singing, Voice Acting, Commentary or Other Talents

You must be at least the legal adult age defined by your country (mostly 18 years old) before the audition ends.

Basic Understanding of the VTuber Culture

Having basic understanding and expectations set with the VTuber Culture, and understand the limitation of what the current VTuber technology allows is strongly prefered.

Record of Content Creation

Other Recommendation

Multilanguage Talent

We welcome talents that are at least fluent in a secondary language, especially Japanese or Chinese. Being able to speak a second language helps, but it not required nor heavily considered as a major factor.

Basic Understanding of Gaming / Anime / Japanese Culture

We recommend applicants to having basic understanding of Anime culture, game culture, Japanese culture, Otaku culture, or if you have watch anime, read manga or any form of novels, or have played any kind of Tabletop RPG (TRPG).

Selection Process

Audition Form

Audition Form: Basic Information and Voice Samples

You will be required to record your voice with script of your choice and provide us with basic information.

We use these voice files to give us a basic understanding of how your character may be and if it currently fits our team. We may also use your basic information to determine if you meet our hard requirements and comply with local law.

Creative and Evaluation Questions

This stage provides us a basic insight of your creativity by asking nonsensical questions.

We also want to understand more about you regarding what content you may wish to create and what resource you may require. What your design may be, etc.

Interview and Mock Stream

We will schedule an interview with you, where we will ask you some questions in person.

We may ask you to select one game of your choice during the interview and stream your reactions to observe your performance. Depending on situation, we may conduct a second round of interviews to better understand you so that you don't have to nail it in your first interview.

Contract Signing

We will allow you to review and modify the contract for at least 5 days and extend it depending on if you have more questions.

You may choose to accept or decline our agreement, and if you choose to decline, it will not hurt your chance to apply next round. However, the contract being offered may change next round if you are once again accepted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we accept female / male / other applicants?

Yes, we accept all kinds of applicants regardless of their gender.

However, depending on the applicant pool and the theme we ultimately go with, we may choose only talents with feminine or masculine voices.

How long can I hear back from you?

We typically get back to an applicant within two weeks shall they be shortlisted.

However, in rare cases, we have got back to applicants in a much later date after understanding better about on the composition of the application pool.

How often does the audition open?

You can apply whenever you want, however, only during limited period known as "stargazer rounds" do we garauntee to accept new talents.

What's the difference between Stargazer Round and applying outside it?

Stargazer rounds is a limited time period opened when AkioAIR has more available resources for new talents; this round guarantees that we accept at least 3 new talents.

Applying outside the stargazer round have higher bar of entry, most likely require extrodinary talent or rich content creation record to be accepted.

Can I join with my current avatar or model?

Under special circumstances, yes with conditions. We will look into case by case shall you request.

However, the following conditions must be met:

You and your original artist must agree to copyright licensing agreement.
If we determinate that the model suits you, or that you already have a wide audience
If the model quality does not meet our requirement, we will arrange and design a new version / iteration for you.

Can I update my application after submitting it?

Yes, you may update your application form once your submitted it, however, you must send us a email via [email protected] after the change is made so that we can take notice of such change.

We will always try our best to read through the updated changes, however, we only encourage updating the application if a significant information is missing?

What does "record of content creation" mean?

We define "record of content creation" as content you have displayed publicly that is well received by a reasonable amount of audiences.

The more viewers and audiences it has, the more credibility it has as a record of content creation.

Should I apply even if I have no record of content creation?

YES, while we do prefer talents with content creation experience, this doesn't mean we won't take in talents without content creation experience. From our experience, either has it's advantage and disadvantage. All in all, it's probably more important to have impressing talents or a plan then content creation records.

If I failed the audition or not passing the first stage, does that mean I'm not suitable to a be a VTuber?

Of course not, regardless of the stage we only take in talents that we think will fit our team. This means even if you have great potential in becoming a successful VTuber, we may not be able to take you in for this round at any stage due to composition of the audition pool and what our team is lacking at the moment.

This audition is not meant to be used as a qualification test for aspiring VTubers.

Does AkioAIR dislike the current way of how major VTuber agencies operates?

We don't know where this misconception comes from, however, this is not true. We are always neutral to the way major agencies operates.

Of course, as a VTuber agency, we will ultimately try to think of ways to provide and execute ideas that major agencies either deemed to risky to their core business or are not willing to provide.

As a smaller agency, we have more agility and adaptibilty to events and ideas. In a sense, we are willing to try more bold ideas for talents with the creativity to do so.
